The new ceramic is classified into two, the structural ceramic and the functional ceramic. The ceramic with mechanical function, heat function or partial chemical function is classified to structural ceramic, while the ceramic with electrical, light, magnetic chemical, organic characteristic and with interchanging function is called functional ceramic. However, it is hard to classify the ceramic very accurately because the new ceramic always has not only one function.
    The functional ceramic has not only the performance of insulation, semi-conduction, conductivity, piezoelectricity, ferroelectricity, magnetic, corrosion-resistance, chemisorption, organic adaptability, sound absorption, radiation-resistance, but also the function of interchanging.
    With the development of technology, the multi-function ceramic has already been researched and produced. The new ceramic has so remarkable advantage in functions, so more and more attentions have been paid to it.
